GORDON ELLIOTT expressed his gratitude to his team after ‘an incredible day’ at Navan that saw him bag SEVEN winners.
The Meath native always tends to fare well at his local racecourse but he took his usual dominance to new levels considering there was a total of eight races across the whole day.
He tweeted: “What an incredible day at Navan!
“Thank you to all of our owners, jockeys and brilliant staff for making days like this happen….7 winners!”
MEANS A LOT
When asked for his immediate reaction at the track, he said: “It’s been an unbelievable day – to get seven winners at one track and at Navan as well, my local track.
“I don’t know if it’s been done before in Ireland, but to train seven winners is unbelievable and we’ll never forget it.
“This is special after the year we’ve had, it just shows what it means to the staff and all my owners and friends.
“You see the likes of Noel Meade clapping you in, they are your proper friends, I can’t believe it. We’re back doing what we love doing.”

The first race of the day actually went to Willie Mullins’ Whatdeawant who pulled clear to take the Kilberry Pub & Kitchen Maiden Hurdle.
From there, however, it was the turn of Elliott’s stable to sweep up.
In all, he had three winners each over hurdles and fences along with another success in a bumper.
RUSSELL INJURY
The only negative to emerge from the day was a wrist injury to veteran jockey Davy Russell but that’s not thought to be anything serious.
On Russell’s status, Elliott commented: “He just sprained his wrist and he’ll be alright.”
The 42-year-old was replaced in the saddle by Jamie Codd.
